Wisconsin 2007

(year of Phil?)

Well, we were back--last week of September; the whole crew was here:  Ben, Dan, Wayne, Rick, and Brad.  Phil dropped by for a couple days too--just in time to steal the show.

We arrived at Ricky's new house on Friday.  Beautiful place, and an accommodating host.

Saturday, after visiting St. Croix for some outstanding rods, we started out on a beautiful day on Mineral Lake.   A couple suckers were munched, but towards evening we finally learned a hook set and brought in a pretty muskie in the low 30's.

The next day we headed to Superior.  Wayne started off the day right.  Could it be a resurgence of Superior Wayne?

Namakogon next.  Blustery, rainy, cold.  Perfect Muskie weather.  And just before giving up for the day, DanO netted me a nice mid-30's fish.  Too bad we straightened a few treble hooks on a fish earlier in the day (nice hook set at least, DanO).

Back to Superior for another try at the Salmon.  This time, Ben took control.

A little relaxing at the cabin.

Phil then joined us for a day on Teal, as did our uncle George.  A few hits, no fish.  A hail storm to keep things interesting.

Then, back to Superior.  George, Andy, and I landed a few salmon, even stealing one from Ben and Dan.  I even had a nice brown.  But the real story was Phil.  Fishing with Wayne and Brad, Phil caught fish after fish, only missing one, on a blue little piece of magic that only he had.  When all was said and done, their boat had 5 fish in the livewell--all Phil's.  And so the legend became the YOP.
