NORA JORDAN DRYMALSKI

(a.k.a. Peanut, Poopy, Lil' Smoky, Baby Sausage, Teeny Weenie)

BORN:  8/1/06 @ 4:11am to two very proud parents

This is the story of Nora Jordan, and how she came to be.

Mandi had been having contractions since Saturday.  She had been to the hospital on consecutive days with the same report--no, she wasn't in labor yet.  "I don't think she's ever going to be born," she said, and sighed.

Sunday came and went.  Monday arrived, and still no baby.  Mandi just hoped she had a sign to know when to go into the hospital again.

Then, at precisely 7:30pm, Monday, July 31st (Larkin's birthday), she got her wish.  "My water broke!"  Off we zipped to the hospital, full of anticipation.

When we arrived, the nurse checked her over and put Mandi's uterus and the baby's heart rate on the monitor, like she had done many times before.  This time, however, when the doctor did her examination, she said the magic words.  "Mandi, your water broke, and you're going to have a baby."

Her parents-to-be were so excited.  Soon they were going to meet their baby!

Mandi was so brave throughout the whole labor process.  She was completely dilated by about 3:00am the following morning, and after an hour of strenuous pushing, we met Nora Jordan Drymalski for the first time.  She had a full head of beautiful brown hair, and a little cry that delighted all those around her.  Her dad cut the cord, and on to her mother's belly she went, the very same belly that was so very recently her home.

After Mandi and Nora finished their first feeding, off Nora went with the nurses to be weighed in.

Six pounds, 14.2 oz., 20 inches long.

Then, the nurses dressed her in her first outfit and put a little pink bow in her hair.

Then, back to Mom and Dad's room for another little meal and a little nap.

Dad didn't even do any work, but he was bushed too.

Later that day, all Nora's new friends came to meet her for the first time.  There were the pharmacists and pharmacy techs that Mandi worked with downstairs, Sam Voney with flowers, a picture frame, and well-wishes from the PM&R team, Greg and Julia (Nora's neighbors), Sadie, Kate, and Chrissa.  Even Grandma Ann came to visit!

Nora (and Mom) were feeling so good by the next day that they decided to visit her new house for the first time (first time on the outside of the belly, anyway).  The day had been long, the food had been good, and a vibrating chair was exactly what she'd been waiting for.  She couldn't wait to see what was in store for her tomorrow.
